Orillia & District Men’s Dart League

Rules of Play

 

1.        That this league be called the “Orillia & District Men’s Dart League”.

2.        EVERY PLAYER NOT A LEGION MEMBER MUST BE SIGNED IN WHEN ENTERING THE BUILDING.

3.        That the business of this league is managed by an executive elected at the annual General Meeting.

4.        The president will have the tie-breaking vote.

5.        That any matter not written within these rules will be dealt with by the Executive.

6.        Any amendment to these rules must be given in writing to the Secretary and dealt with at the annual General Meeting.

7.        All teams and players must pay a “Registration Fee” each season as follows:

-          $20.00 per player

-          $25.00 per team

To be submitted to the League by October 31st of that year.  No players can be registered beyond this date.

8.        All players must sign the evenings “Match Card” after their match.

9.        No player can play for two or more teams in one season.

  • Exception: If a team should drop out of the league, the players effected who wish to play in the league may be registered to a legal team providing this is accomplished prior to October 31st.  Beyond October 31st the decision will lie with the executive.

10.     Each team shall register a minimum of (6) six players.

11.     The rules for league play shall be:

a)       6 single games      - best of (3) three

- 301 Double in – Double out

b)    3 double games    - best of (1) one

- 501 Double in – Double out

                                        - No player shall play more than (1) one doubles match

c)     2 team games        - best of (1) one

                                        - 701 Double in – Double out

                                        - Minimum 4 players required

                                        - Lack of players results in a score of zero for the missing person(s) rotation

12.     Winners of each game will be awarded 1 point.  Possible points per evening will be 11 points.

13.     Teams tied with equal points at the season’s end will be decided by, for and against record during the league play with the teams that are tied.  In the event that a tie is still in effect, a best of 3 session (team games) at team playoff night will be the deciding factor.

14.     All matches will be played on a HOME and AWAY basis.  League play starts at 8:00 PM sharp.  Playoff dates may start earlier as determined by the executive.

15.     A team short of players (less than 6) will be granted a 15 minute waiting period after which play will resume or game(s) forfeited – at the discretion of BOTH CAPTAINS.

16.     If both teams are short players, no point will be awarded for games not played.

17.     Each team will be given the opportunity to report to their respective DIVISION CONVENOR if their team will or will not play in the year end team playoffs.  Any team that commits they will play in the playoffs must show for that night as well as complete ALL OF THEIR SCHEDULED GAMES.  Failure to complete all their scheduled games will result in a $30.00 fine, which will be deducted from that teams point money.

18.      Should a team not complete all their games during the team playoffs all of the points awarded from any of the games that the offending team has played will be null and void.

19.   Team playoffs will consist of 2 groups playing each team once.  The top 7 teams in the league will form one group and the bottom seven will form the second group.  The winner of each group will play in the final.  Each match will consist of the best of 3, 701, open start double out.

20.     Both teams shall provide a proficient MARKER and CALLER.

21.     A player may request, from the CALLER, the number of points he has remaining, only.

22.     In the event that the CALLER gives a wrong number of points left, the number will stand unless corrected by the MARKER or TEAM CAPTIAN, prior to the next three darts being thrown.

23.     Team members that are not playing must not call out doubles or remaining number combinations.

24.     TEAM CAPTAINS are responsible for the rule infractions and their team member’s conduct during league play and the playoffs.

25.     Rule of play:  - Away player throws first

- Loser of game 1 leads the second game

                        - Away player throws first if third game is required.

26.     If any team requires a postponement, that TEAM CAPTAIN must inform the opponent at least 24 hours in advance and also inform the DIVISION CONVENOR of the postponement and rescheduled date.
